Lending Policies for Students

Loan periods, overdue fines, and replacement fees for library materials borrowed by Mitchell College students.

Student Policies

Each type of Library material has his own lending policies:

The Library is pleased to extend borrowing privileges to students under the following conditions:

  • Those who use the Library and its resources agree to observe all Library policies, to be respectful of others’ rights in using the Library, and respectful of Library facilities and property.
  • Students must possess a Mitchell College ID card in order to register for borrower privileges.
  • Borrowers are responsible for all Library materials checked out in their name, including resources used within the Library but not formally checked out to them.
  • Overdue notices are sent as a courtesy, via e-mail only.  It is the individual responsibility of borrowers to acquaint themselves with and observe Library circulation policies.
  • Borrowers agree to pay promptly any charges incurred for late returns, damage to, and/or loss of Library materials and property; borrowing privileges may be suspended at any time for recurrent abuse of these privileges.
  • Borrowers agree to give immediate notification to the Library of changes of address.

About Library Holds

Why am I on hold?

Students on hold:

  1. Have materials checked out after the end of a semester.
  2. Owe $5 or more in fines and/or fees.

What does this mean for me?

You will not be able to receive official transcripts from the Registrar's office until you clear your hold.

How do I clear my hold?

  1. Find out why you're on hold.  You can either contact Library staff or login to your Library account with your Library barcode (on the back of your photo ID).
  2. Clear your hold by returning materials and/or paying fines.  You can pay your fines online (link and details to the right).

Renew, Request, and More!

View your checked out items, renew materials online, and request materials from other libraries - all in one place!
