"Copyright for the Rest of Us ..."

Copyright for the Rest of Us: A Guide for People Who Aren't Lawyers, by Marcia W. Keyser, is licensed under a Creative Commons license (freely available for printing and downloading).  Keyser is the Coordinator of Copyright Services, Instruction and Reference Librarian at Cowles Library, Drake University.

From the Abstract:  For those who want to teach or learn more about American copyright law, Copyright For The Rest Of Us is the book to use. Eleven chapters, with illustrations, outline concepts such as basic copyright law, where to find it, and how to apply copyright law in many common situations.

Library Copyright Alliance

The Library Copyright Alliance represents the combined involvement of three major professional associations, the American Library Association (ALA), The Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) and the Research Libraries Group (RLG).  In early 2010, a situation involving UCLA and a challenge by the Association of Information Media and Equipment (AIME) against the University created a national forum for debate over educational video streaming, ultimately ending with a federal court ruling in favor of UCLA.
