Rights & Responsibilities for Student Writers

Original Works

Students may submit their own, original creative works for consideration in The Review.  Any works that include legal reuse of work that is not created by the student must include appropriate citation.  This includes the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the creation of literary works.

Consent to Publish

Students must consent to having their work published on the Mitchell Literary Review website. Students are responsible for any conflict of copyright if their work is accepted for publication elsewhere.

Students may contact review@mitchell.edu at any time if they would like their work removed from the Mitchell Literary Review website.  Student work published in The Review will also be added to the Mitchell College Archives for the historical record.  Student works in the College Archives are viewable upon request by the general public, unless requested otherwise in writing by the copyright holder.

Copyright

Students submitting to The Review retain copyright to their own work.  Learn more on the Copyright for Writers page.

Submitting Previously Graded Work

Acceptance of work in The Review is NOT grade dependent.  Grades are never shared with the Literary Review Board and do not affect whether or not work is accepted.  Likewise, submitting to The Review is completely voluntary and your choice to do so does not impact your grade in any writing course.
