ICT Literacy at Mitchell College

What is ICT Literacy?

As defined by the Mitchell College General Education Abilities

Information and Communication Technology Literacy is the ability to:

  1. Interpret a need for and determine where to locate information, including searching and collecting information from the Internet and databases;
  2. Construct an organizational scheme that enables one to assess the relevance and usefulness of information for a specific purpose;
  3. Interpret conclusions from information originating from multiple sources by critically adapting and analyzing current data; and
  4. Explain information persuasively and ethically to various audiences.

Standards

Project Information Literacy

Project Information Literacy was established by the University of Washington's School of Information (iSchool) in 2008.  It is sponsored, in part, with contributing funds by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation.  It's stated goal:"To understand how early adults conceptualize and operationalize research in the digital age."
