Similar to one another, these two systems number each source on the reference list and then refer to each source in-text by its number. The reference list can be in order by date (sequence) or by author (name).
This system does not number the sources on the reference list. Instead, it puts the reference list in order by author's name and uses the author's name and publication date in-text.
